There are many ways to show you care about animals. If you already have a pet, give it a hug! If you don’t, there are many animals in need of homes and loving care.
At Petfinder, there are 1,000s of listings for animals in shelters nationwide. You will only see animals from CA here on my site, but click the link and start searching if you would like to find a loving animal near you.
Or, if you are in California and would like to adopt from Pet Friends, please visit the website — there are lots of adorable animals waiting for a home.
I started volunteering at Pet Friends today. It’s very sad to see how many animals are in need of loving owners and a stable home. Many of the animals at Pet Friends have been there for over a year! If I had room in my house, several of them would be coming home with me.
There are too many homeless animals and not enough people doing something to fix it. If you can help out an animal, please do so! They will appreciate it more than you can ever know.

The end of F5
The Friday Five is no more! The owner has given up hope and left us all to suffer on Fridays (or whatever day we happened to get around to it).
I guess I will just have to start coming up with my own material and my own ideas of what to write.
So everyone knows how much I *love* my wireless keyboard and my wireless optical mouse, right? Sometimes I don’t know how I’d get by without them. Well, Logitech has come out with something BETTER. They’ve added a portable media remote which can present email notifications (you know me, I need that!), a charging station for the mouse which also doubles as a hub. In addition to all that, it’s bluetooth enabled, which means no more crappy RF receivers on the floor. Check it out at www.logitech.com.
If I have to stay in the IT industry, can I please go work somewhere cool like Logitech or Google??
It’s Friday. Finally. Unfortunately, that means we are getting closer and closer to some deadlines here at work. I have a feeling there are more 80 hour work-weeks in my future. The only good thing is the money. If I work another 80 week, then I won’t feel guilty buying that expensive stuff for my computer.
Heat Wave
All over California, we have been having a heat wave this week.
Given my choice of the nice, sunny weather we had here during March, and the March of 2003 I spent buried under snow in Maryland, I’ll take a hot and steamy week or two in April, in exchange for the wonderful lack of snow.
This picture shows how even Elvis and Marilyn are feeling the heat this week. Coincidentally, I met them while I was in Hollywood for my cousin Cathy’s wedding reception earlier this month.
With any luck, I won’t be working overtime this weekend and I will finally make it back to the beach this weekend.
Friday? What’s that?
Well, Friday has come and gone once again. This past week, I barely noticed Friday. When you work 80+ hours in 6 days, when you don’t leave the office until midnight and some days you come in at 4 in the morning, all the days tend to blend together.
So, slightly delayed, here’s the Friday Five for last week:
The Friday Five
Once again, there’s no F5, so here’s an old one that I’ve never answered.

1. Where were you born?
Houston, Texas
2. If you still live there, where would you rather move to? If you don’t live there, do you want to move back? Why or why not?
I do not want to move back to Houston. Even though I was born there, I moved to California at such a young age that I don’t even remember living in Houston. I will always have a place in my heart for Texas, but I’m a California girl through and through.
3. Where in the world do you feel the safest?
I feel safest when I’m in the arms of the person who loves me. It’s a nice, sappy, romantic notion, isn’t it?
4. Do you feel you are well-traveled?
No. How can I be well-traveled when I’ve barely been outside of the continential US?
5. Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
There’s so many to list. Each place on the list is interesting for different reasons, and each place I’d like to go back to again.
– San Francisco
– Los Angeles
– New York
– Memphis / Graceland
– Seattle
