An ideal day…

#Bloganuary prompt for today is to write about an ideal day.

I am not a morning person. Even my genetics says I’m not a morning person. “Brienna, people with your genetics wake up on average around 7:58 am on their days off.”

And even that sounds early to me for a day off! Wake up at 5? HA! Anything close to an ideal day isn’t going to start until at least 8 am. And it shall be sunny. Sunny and warm. But not too warm. I don’t like too much humidity or sweltering heat. Let’s say a nice, enjoyable 75-80 ℉

Beyond that—I’m not sure. Is this a weekend? A workday? Or should we say since it’s an ideal day, clearly it’s not a workday?

So… I’m sleeping in and waking up to an absolutely gorgeous, sunny, warm but not hot or humid day. What’s next?

On a daily basis, I like to spend time with my furry babies—Indy, Roxy, and Dexter. I also like to read, often I do some writing as well. On days with great weather, I feel strongly like being in nature, even if that’s just my hammock in my backyard.

And changing the prompt slightly from an ideal day to a perfect date, then my answer would be “That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.”

What do you like most about your writing?

I started writing this Saturday night while I was in Paso Robles. Due to crappy Wi-Fi, it appeared that my post was lost and not auto-saved. However, when I got home, I found that a small portion was saved. I’ll continue with what I started, and I’ll be posting multiples to catch up on the other #Bloganuary prompts I missed.

Today’s January 8th’s #Bloganuary prompt is to write about what I like most about my writing. This is an interesting question. I could fill pages with what I don’t like about my writing. Writing about what I do like is much harder.

Let’s see. I feel my writing style is approachable, informative, and generally understandable.

There. I said something nice, now I can write about other things about writing for the rest of this post.

I recently read a tip to write for a single person (or two, if you count yourself). For bloggers like me, this is a dynamite tip. With the astronomical popularity of social media and services like Tik Tok, there is so much pressure for likes, views, etc. It’s nice to come here and know that, primarily, I’m writing this for me. No comments? No problem. Now, that’s not to say that I don’t want comments (and please, please, leave your comments here and not on social media if you clicked over from something like Facebook)!

Another thing I came across recently was a meme about double-spacing after periods. And all of these people were saying how they were never giving up their double space. Even though it’s wrong. And ugly looking. I was taught to type that way, (even though I believe it was already wrong by that time, as I did not learn to type on a typewriter) and sometimes I find myself STILL adding that extra space. However, unlike those weirdos on Facebook, I do not WANT that stupid space in my writing. I tried to get MacOs to automatically replace ” ” with ” “, however, it won’t save an entry with only spaces. How rude!

And since I’m behind by 4 posts still, that’s enough for this one.

Laughter is the best medicine

What makes me laugh? I have to say, this is not something I have given a lot of thought to in the past.

Some of my favorite comedy movies include There’s Something About Mary, Groundhog Day, American Pie, and Office Space. When I was younger, I loved Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Dumber and Dumber, and Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. I haven’t seen Ace Ventura in recent years, however, the other two definitely do not stand the test of time. Much of the humor now seems offensive to me.

For the most part, I don’t enjoy humor at the expense of others. We can be funny without being racist, misogynistic, or cruel.

These days, a lot of my laughs come from the kids.

#Bloganuary January 7 – write about what makes you laugh.

Inspiration by The Rock

#Bloganuary day 6: write about someone who inspires you.

Who inspires me? Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. I’m sure my friends won’t be surprised by this answer.

He is such a nice person, and incredibly generous and hardworking. He often says “while it’s nice to be important, it’s more important to be nice”. Oh, and despite all his fame, he is still a very humble man.

If you aren’t familiar with his background, I recommend reading what you can about him. I am always impressed by his story, and how he was able to overcome setbacks in life to become the sexiest man alive, and one of the most liked people in the entire world.
