Day 36 – Movie Monday

Happy happy happy

birthday…………

ROBIN!

Since we’ve been in quarantine, I thought it would be a great time to watch a lot of the movies I’ve been meaning to watch. However, I’ve been finding it really hard to sit through a whole movie. Over the last week or two, I started (and didn’t finish) The Other Guys (I picked this because Dwayne Johnson is in it, but turns out it’s only for about 30 seconds BOOOOOO), The Race to Witch Mountain (another movie with Dwayne), Hot Fuzz, Up, and Portrait of A Lady on Fire. The last one was primarily because it was late and I just wasn’t in the mood for subtitles.

I did, however, really enjoy Onward, 21 and 22 Jump Street. I also recently re-watched some classics like Legally Blonde (including the sequel) and Fight Club. Oh, and the Tooth Fairy, which despite the horrible reviews, I really liked. And no, not just because Dwayne’s in it.

I really miss going to the movies. It’s funny, people always ask me why I spend the money, particularly since I usually go alone. Well — I love the whole experience. I love the theatre, the big screen, popcorn. Oh, and it forces me to sit and pay attention. At home I get distracted by a million things.

The movie studios have pushed back a lot of this year’s releases to next year, and I’m quite sad about that. I was really looking forward to Jungle Cruise, among others.

I’m actually watching Office Space as I write this.
Also, not pictured is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, which will certainly be in rotation at some point. And obviously, I’ll watch American Pie before watching the second one.

In the meantime, this is my stack of movies I have queued up. I’ve seen all of these many times before, so I know even if I get distracted, that’s ok. And I know I love them, so I don’t have to worry about the movie being boring or disappointing for some other reason.

Day 35 – quarantine life

Things that you only realize when you’re under quarantine and/or you spend an unusually high amount of time at home…

  • You don’t own enough spoons
  • Finding the right screw is a pain in the ass
  • It’s even worse when Home Depot doesn’t carry said screw in stock at the store (not that you want to go to Home Depot at this time anyway but still)
  • Posting on social media asking friends to mail you a screw (and a nut) is weird
  • Chores are somehow worse when you’re home all the time
  • The house gets dirtier when you’re home all the time
  • The dogs love it when you’re home all the time
  • The cat does not
  • Binging TV does actually get old
  • You’re not good at puzzles

Day 34 – Friday 5 (even though it’s Saturday)

  1. What was the last thing you purchased second-hand? Purchased? I’m not sure — my house??? The last thing I remember receiving second hand is a collection of tops from NY&Co courtesy of Robin.
  2. What’s a dish you cannot resist a second helping of? Hmmm, tough question. Nachos? I will eat allllllll the nachos you can put in front of me. And then maybe go find some more.
  3. How many seconds can you go right now without blinking? About 10, I guess.
  4. Whose second album is much better than their debut album? New Kids on the Block. 🙂
  5. What’s something for which you were runner-up? These are hard this week. Let’s see I was runner-up for valedictorian of my 8th grade class. And even for that, I was sort of runner-up as I was “co-salutatorian”.

Brought to you by Friday 5.

Day 33 – puzzle time

One of my projects during quarantine has been this puzzle. I officially started on March 28th.

April 1 – border almost complete
April 17 – doesn’t look very complete yet!

I’m really starting to hate this puzzle. I’m looking for that purple piece, you know, the one that’s PURPLE LIKE ALL 900 of the OTHER PIECES LEFT??!

The positive news is that the puzzle TOTALLY MATCHES THE NEW BLOG THEME! Isn’t that great? 😂

Check back with me in 3 weeks (or maybe 3 years?), and I’ll let you know if the damn puzzle is done yet or not.
