Several months ago, I discovered a local band The Spazmatics. They are an 80s cover band, and SO MUCH FUN!
I had plans to see them live last Friday, but since all the bars and basically everything is closed right now, that didn’t happen.
Thankfully, they have been doing free Facebook live concerts on Friday night, and I convinced some friends (mostly Robin) to watch. But…. it’s still just me here and texting while dancing is still dancing by yourself.
This was the highlight of my week, and while normally I would be embarrassed to admit that, not only do I admit it, but I’m going to share a video (GASP)!
Also, please please be nice, and no comments on my singing!!!
Since it seems unlikely that I’ll be going back to work at the office, or really out in public with other people, any time soon, I’ve been thinking a lot about things to do at home.
Here are some of the items on my list of things to do/try:
The 7th Continent – a cooperative/solo choose-your-own-adventure game
Wash and groom the dogs since I think going to the groomers is out right now — I’ve cut Indy’s hair/fur quite a few times, but I have never tried to do Roxy so this will be an adventure
Rewatch West World so I know what the f*%$# is going on in season 3
OZARK SEASON THREE tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, I can’t wait. I love this show!
Meditation, daily, longer than 5 minutes
Exercise. I’ve been joining classes from my favorite local gym via zoom. As long as I don’t re-injure my stupid shoulder, I should be able to continue.
Running. I’d like to get back into shape to run a 10k when we’re allowed out of quarantine. 1/2 marathons are out because of my myriad injuries, but I’m hoping I can get up to 10k.
If I’m really motivated, finally repainting the green wall in my living that I hate. It’s going to be purple and it will be AMAZING!
And, as I mentioned previously, I’d like to start drawing. I got this cool book and hopefully I’ll get started this weekend!
I’m a little late posting this. I got distracted by online trivia, which was pretty fun now that King Trivia has made some improvements to encourage team play and submission of answers by round.
Here’s a photo of my fridge and some of the stuff I’m using to stay healthy right now.

There was definitely some potential for this to become just a list of what I did on a given day. I’m very happy to say, that’s not the case (at least not today)!
Today, I want to talk about values. You can file this one under “sef-care 101”. Everyone’s values may be different, and that’s ok. Values are what tells us what’s important to us, what we care about, and about how we want to live our lives. As Tobias (more on Tobias in a minute) told me this morning, you can think about values as important because they signify things you want to import more of into your life.
I’m referring to values as “self-care 101” because values are a measure by which a person can judge if they are living a life that’s authentic (for them). Personal goal setting has been difficult for me recently, and so I decided to start with values. Goals should be easy (easier?) once I know and understand my personal values and can discover goals that align with those values.
Back to Tobias now. Tobias is my super-awesome coach, and since the gym is closed down right now, we decided to work on values instead of strength-training today. You can check him out on his website at https://www.tobiasmcgowan.com/. Oh, and you can check out his book too, if that’s your thing. Shameless plugs I know, but Tobias has been the single most influential person in my life in recent years with regards to my health and well-being, so it’s deserved!
Ok, now you know why I think values are important (there’s that word again!), and about Tobias, so we can get back to talking about values. I’m not going to share the entire process of I went through to discover mine, just the highlights.
Tobias asked me 5 deceptively simple questions and asked me to write down the answers. Then we went through those answers, discussed some more than others, and looked at things they had in common. Tobias did this all on his whiteboard, and later I put it into a mind map. I might share the mind map later on this week.
Here’s what we came up with as my core values:
Has anyone else gone through a value discovery process similar to this?I’d love to hear/read about your experience, drop me a comment!
